Busoga Yaiffe (BY) is an NGO that was officially launched and registered in December 2007 in Jinja, Uganda as the culmination of months of intense preparatory discussion and debate amongst the Basoga (as the people of this east-central region of Uganda are called) and their well-wishers and friends within Uganda and in the Diaspora.
One of its most important annual activities is the Olwekobaano, which is a unique opportunity to bring diverse stakeholders together to discuss development and consider strategies to move the region forward.
Its founding mission, as enshrined in the founding mission statement and the BY Constitution, is a commitment to the cultural and socio-economic wellbeing of Busoga, by strategically sourcing the local, national and international community and actively participating in strategic development programs.
The organisation visualises a significant alleviation of poverty, ignorance and disease by contributing to the building of a socio-economically sustainable, self-reliant and stable Busoga region by 2030.
